Experience the Art of Ringing!

The art of ringing is an inclusive activity that lifts one’s spirits. It involves navigating a sense of rhythm (can you count to 4?), some coordination skills and range of movement for arms and shoulders with no heavy lifting. Participants will engage in ringing hand chimes as beginners, exploring a variety of sounds while enjoying positive social interaction!

Biography

Debbie is artistic director with the Handbell Society of Edmonton and this past year conducted the Josephburg Men’s Chorus. In 2024 representing Canada in Japan, she was awarded the International Handbell Laureate Award for her groundbreaking international leadership in addition to having served as clinician, adjudicator and conductor in 25 countries.
From her honour’s degrees in music education, opera and musical theater she was a university professor for 12 years teaching music education, conducting choral and handbell ensembles, and offering solo instruction. Drawing on her vast experience as a professional singer, choral/handbell conductor and passion for teaching, Debbie hopes to nurture inspire musicians of all ages at every level.
